H&M with a global initiative - today's role models: children
12 May, 2021
H&M has launched a new global initiative to support the little heroes of our time by telling their incredible stories. Children are more informed, more capable and more involved than ever before. There are countless examples of how they are the ones taking action to make the world a better place, filling the void left by those we usually turn to, namely adults. In times of social and natural upheaval, managing problems has never been more important. This need has inspired H&M and the Role models campaign, with which the brand is supporting the new role models who are right in front of us and shaping our future.
''As a struggling company, we feel a certain responsibility to use our influence to drive change today and in the future. We are ambitious in our goal to make our business fairer and more sustainable so that the world will be a better place for future generations. That's why we made the decision to spread the voices of the role models who are making a difference today - children,'' says Pascal Brun, Global Sustainability Manager H&M.
H&M created an inspiring short film in collaboration with Oscar-nominated director Brian Buckley. The film showcases the stories of children from around the world who, through initiatives big and small, are setting the good example the world needs today. It aims to show how young people are driving the future and adults can learn a lot from them. Taking decisions and the urgent need for change that we need depends on listening to them and joining forces.
H&M asks: to evolve, shouldn't we rethink our role models? That's why it created a shared platform to discover and give voice to small heroes and their causes, such as social equality, sustainability and education. H&M is calling on people to share their role models and get involved in the initiative at hm.com/kids by nominating their little hero. In a few months, the brand will tell the most interesting collected stories from around the world.
H&M aims to not only showcase the importance of these children, but also support their causes through a sustainable limited edition collection inspired by the new role models. The designs have been developed by the H&M Kids creative team and proceeds from sales will be donated to support the causes. The collection will be available exclusively online throughout the summer.
"Our goal is not only to highlight some of the amazing children around the world, but to support with the influence we have a cause we truly believe in," says Pascal Brun.
