AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
PremiereAN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
In 1986, the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster reached Bulgaria as well. With limited information available, the public remained unaware of the potential risks of consuming milk, meat and vegetables during May of that year—a period that would later be called “the Bulgarian Chernobyl”. Some institutions had access to the data, while the wider public lived in ignorance. The film traces the facts, testimonies and public reactions—from the initial silence to the subsequent debates and fears. This is a story about memory, trust, and the lessons that still resonate today. More Less
